Miss Crafty Pants...

It's been a long time since I got crafty, but when I was in Winter Park on Saturday, I milled through Pottery Barn and, of course, got a couple of ideas to add to my dining room.  Their moss covered foam balls ranged from $14-$24 each, so buying them wasn't an option but making my own sure was!  I've been wanting to fill up that dough bowl with something green since I bought it several years ago.  It's been one of those things that loomed on the "to-do" list, so I'm thrilled to cross it off...I bought some foam balls, large and extra large, some spray adhesive and some green moss and got busy making about 8 of them to fill my bowl.

I also made some topiaries for our dining room table.  I bought the triangular foam, a dowel stick, some terracotta pots and some twine.   I wrapped the base of the terracotta pot with some burlap that I already had on hand, and I finished off the burlap with some twine.  Now, I'm thinking about painting those candlesticks a chippy, creamy white.  What do you think?

I bought this birdcage about a year ago at a yard sale for $7.  I came home and painted it black and had it on our screened in porch until now.  This weekend, I took some creamy white spray paint to it and, for now, it's under our half-moon table in the foyer.

After my crafty weekend, I'm left with a couple of  thoughts.  Do you think the people who make the moss covered balls for Pottery Barn are as messy as I was making mine?  And, do you think they are in as much pain the next day?

  1. I spotted the burlap topiaries at Pottery Barn last weekend and thought - "I could do that!" Good for you@! They look great!

Yes, I think the candlesticks would be pretty white, maybe antiqued like your half moon table?
